COVID-19 Updates

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Students and alumni,

I want to communicate with you regarding the recent decision to postpone our graduation celebration.  The expectation of social isolation to slow the spread of COVID-19, coupled with uncertainty as to how many weeks this will last has prompted our school to act now and allow students, families, faculty and staff members to make necessary adjustments in their plans.

I know that those of you who are graduating will be most disappointed.  We are planning to celebrate your graduation and your accomplishments later this year.  We are working on scheduling a new ceremony, and we will keep you updated as that plan comes together.

As the COVID-19 crisis has disrupted the normal routines of our lives, and has reminded us of our common human frailty and mortality I have longed with fresh hope for the fulfilment of Revelation 21: 3-4 . . .

Look! God’s dwelling is
with humanity
and He will live with them.
They will be His people,
and God Himself will be
with them
and be their God.
He will wipe away every tear
from their eyes.
Death will no longer exist;
grief, crying, and pain will exist
no longer,
because the previous things
have passed away.
To this promise we cling, and we pray, “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22: 20)

We have had to limit access to our school. Students still have access through three doors: both library doors and the activities/game room door.  Our students will continue to have access to our free food area (student lunch room downstairs), library and bread (kitchen upstairs) through those three points of entry.  Again, these entry ways are designated for students only.  Other guests must call the number posted on the doors during business hours for access.

Students, staff, and guests must abide by the Alberta Health posters that have been posted on all entry doors; they underline the conditions that would prevent you from gaining entry to the school. These are:

  • If you have cough or fever
  • If you have travelled outside of Canada withing the last 14 days

The doors to the game room lock at 5:00 p.m., and the doors to the library are locked when the library closes (see library hours).
