Bonhoeffer in His Context 9:00 am
Bonhoeffer in His Context
May 6 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Taught by Dr. Jimmy Cobb. This course offers students an opportunity to see how Christian theology and ethics are interwoven and indispensable to each other as exemplified by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the most quoted theologian of the 20th century.  Though he lived in the first half of that century, Bonhoeffer’s life and theology yet raise pressing issues we currently face, such as the how church must be centered in Christ, how Christology must be the pivot of daily living, the political involvement of Christians, just war, violence by Christians, truth-telling, the urgency of cross-bearing discipleship, and how God can bring good out of evil.  Seeing how Bonhoeffer personally dealt with these issues can be helpful to Christians who want to be faithful to Christ today. Due to time restraints, only selected features of his life and witness can be considered. Please register before April 30, 2019.
